I’m sure by now you’ve heard about
the Mayan Calendar ending on December 21, 2012. According to many ancient
prophecies something important is about to happen on that day. In
2012 the center of the Galaxy is at 0 degree of Capricorn. 0 degree Capricorn
is the point of the zodiac where the Sun is during the December
solstice.
On this day, the Sun makes a sextile
to Neptune, right at the beginning of Pisces. This is an almost exact sextile.
This aspect can indicate a spiritual experience, a large-scale loss or both.
The most important configuration
present that day is a yod aspect, also called the Finger of God. It looks like
an arrow in the chart and it indicates change and transformations. The yod
consists of two stress aspects (called a quincunx) between Jupiter and Pluto,
Jupiter and Saturn, and a central opposition (180 degree aspect) made between
Jupiter and the Mercury/Venus conjunction.
The two quincunxes are almost exact
(they have an orb of less then half a degree). In fact the aspect between Jupiter
and Pluto is exact at December 21 2012. Pluto is the planet of radical transformation, death and rebirth.
Jupiter has a central role in this
drama because it is the focal point of the energy. This indicates changes in
our religious systems, beliefs, philosophical and legal systems, which all fall
under the rulership of Jupiter.
Another important configuration on
December 21, 2012 is the T-square with Neptune as the focal point:
Therefore Neptune, the planet of
spirituality, ascension, confusion, disease and floods is a crucial planet in
this chart.
All things considered I see three
possible scenarios: 1. An important and shocking event
happens which will be the cause that many people will be forced to leave their
physical bodies. This event would most likely have to do with water. For people
who are in touch with themselves and are evolved spiritually this can mean that
they enter into a heavenly realm, and that can be considered “ascension”.
According to The Bible and ancient
lore there was a big flood around 13,000 years ago, (remember Noah?) which may
have destroyed several civilizations. This coincided with the conjunction of
the Summer solstice (seen from the point of view of the Northern Hemisphere) to
the Galactic center. Now we have a conjunction of the Winter solstice to the
Galactic Center on December 21, 2012 at 6:11 a.m.
A meteorite falling in the ocean
would be one expression of this astrological chart. Or a volcano (fire and
earth) exploding and causing a tsunami (water) and resulting floods. Water and
Earth, the strongest elements of this configuration, are not in harmony to one
another. Since Water is more powerful in the 12-21-2012 chart, this may
indicate large-scale floods.
However, we also have the “fire” and
“air” (i.e., disease) scenarios. “Fire” could be the result of many lives
lost in a nuclear event or intense solar flare activity that can affect our
everyday lives in a shocking and devastating way. The nuclear event
speaks for itself. The world is crazy and we are always a hair’s breadth away
from a nuclear threat. I personally believe that interruption of our normal lives through solar flare storms is a more likely scenario. We are currently in the middle of a cyclical “solar storm” which is predicted to peak in 2012. An intense solar flare could cause damage to power grids and other communications systems that could be catastrophic, according to scientists from the National Academy of Scientists, with effects leading to a potential loss of governmental control of the situation. Their prediction is based in part on a major solar storm in 1859 that caused telegraph wires to short out in the United States and Europe, igniting widespread fires. It was perhaps the worst in the past 200 years, and with the advent of modern power grids and satellites much more is at risk. (In
the early 1960’s a solar flare threw the entire Northeast and parts of Canada
into the dark for over 12 hours. A few years ago, a major electrical grid in
the Northeast was knocked off-line resulting in loss of power for hours.) A
present-day repeat of the event that took place in 1859 would cause
significantly more extensive (and possibly catastrophic) social and economic
disruptions. The
worst storms can knock out power grids by inducing currents that melt
transformers. Modern power grids are so interconnected that a big space storm —
the type expected to occur about once a century — could cause a cascade of
failures that would sweep across the United States, cutting power to 130
million people or more in this country alone. Such widespread power outages
would affect other vital systems. Impacts
would be felt on interdependent infrastructures with, for example, drinking
water distribution affected within several hours; perishable foods and
medications lost in 12-24 hours; immediate or eventual loss of heating/air
conditioning, sewage disposal, phone service, transportation, fuel supply and
so on. Outages could take months to fix. Banks might close, and trade with
other countries might come to a halt. Emergency services would be strained, and
command and control might be lost. Space
weather can produce solar storm electromagnetic fields that induce extreme
currents in wires, disrupting power lines, causing wide-spread blackouts and
affecting communication cables that support the Internet. It can also produce
solar energetic particles and the dislocation of the Earth's radiation belts,
which can damage satellites used for commercial communications, global
positioning and weather forecasting. I
personally feel that the likelihood of a solar storm event (or a nuclear
scenario) happening is about 65%. 2.
The aspects involving Neptune (disease) and Jupiter (expansion)
with Pluto (death and regeneration) brings me to an even more plausible
scenario: that of another deadly pandemic, like the one that spread across the
world 1918 and killed more than 50 MILLION people (that’s in turn of the
century population figures). If a pandemic (either manmade or from “natural
causes”) were to occur in our modern age of rapid transportation and
overpopulated and under-developed countries, hundreds of millions of people
could potentially die and the infrastructures we’ve become so reliant upon
would shut down. I
think the chances of a world-wide deadly pandemic occurring are huge … more
than 80%. 3.
The third scenario is that the pressure of Saturn and Pluto will
change the belief system of the world in a way that people finally realize that
we have been on the wrong track for the last thousands of years. People and
especially governments will finally realize that current systems are simply not
working and that bringing peace and welfare to the world is a better thing to
do than fighting wars, polluting the environment, corporate and political
corruption and creating misery. Looking at the current state of the world
I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see the long-established corrupt structures
come tumbling down, the powerful despots who have the world in a financial
death grip will be made to account for their greed and corruption, resulting in
a total systemic collapse and the inevitable re-building of a more responsible
society. We have already seen the beginning of this when Pluto moved into
Capricorn in the fall of 2008. That was when the Wall Street, financial and
auto industry’s house of cards began to fall and the CEOs are being made to
pay. And now we have a new President (who happens to be the first President to
have the planet of transformation in the sign of responsibility – Pluto in
Virgo) take the helm of a crippled and fearful nation and begin to breathe life
back into it. But you can’t rebuild a foundation without tearing down the
structure. This can be extremely traumatic and life-altering. We will all be
asked to sacrifice in order to rebuild, and the sacrifices and the rebuilding
could be painful. The
question is how to prepare for any of these scenarios? What
we should not be doing is building shelters and moving to so-called safe
areas. It something happens it will probably affect people everywhere. It makes
no difference where you are and hiding from it is simply not possible. The
best way to prepare for this is to focus on our spiritual development so that
if we are forced to leave our bodies we are well prepared. And even if nothing
happens focusing on your spiritual development is always a good idea. In
practical terms, though, preparing yourself and family with some common-sense
precautions, like stocking up on emergency food, water, first aid and
sanitation supplies and keeping a stash of cash on hand in small denominations
as making change could be a problem and ATM and credit cards may not work) is a
